The adventure begin

All the versions of this article: [English] [français]

In 2006, following a Western Dharma teachers meeting, in which the issue of Dharma transmission for Indian untouchables is mentioned, Denys Rinpoche encourages Sangha Rimay responsibles, especially Lama Mingyur, to go in India to meet them and see what can be done to fulfill the Indian “Dalits” communities spiritual and material needs. Lama Mingyur went to Bodhgaya and Nagpur in central India and Nagarjuna place of birth. There he was invited to visit Tamil Nadu (South East India) and establish the foundations of Buddhadharma transmission.
In February 2007, during a second visit, Lama Mingyur meets with twenty Dalit organizations and visit forty villages of Tamil Nadu. All are interested in the prospect of Buddhadharma transmission .Many groups already consider themselves as Buddhists, even having lost all actual Dharma transmission for many generations.
